Akshay Bhalla is the Office Managing Partner for KPMG in India , North region . He leads several key accounts and client relationships, liaising with industry associations and anchoring the firm’s brand presence in the North. Akshay is also part of the India firm’s Operations Council. He is the Lead Partner on some of the key Platinum and Priority accounts in the region.
Prior to this role, Akshay was the Chief Operating Officer of Clients & Markets for KPMG in India. Akshay was running operations for the India Global programme and has been personally leading the India MESA Africa Corridor programme. The India MESA corridor grew around 4x over a period of six years, under Akshay’s leadership and continues to be a significant focus for the India firm.
Akshay has over 24 years of experience in professional services with more than 14 years’ experience in risk consulting, business transformation and corporate finance. He started his career in Arthur Andersen in 1996 and worked in London with a leading professional services firm between 1999 and 2001. Subsequently, he set up his own business consulting outfit, which was part of the family firm, JC Bhalla & Co. Akshay scaled up the business serving some of the large clients in North India. During this period, Akshay also started an outsourcing business for professional services firms in the U.S. and the U.K . which was sold to an international network in 2007. Akshay took a significant leap of faith when he decided to sell the consulting business to Protiviti (Robert Half) in 2010 and exit his family business.
Akshay was part of the India Leadership team of Protiviti India, driving business and risk consulting solutions. He spent a considerable amount of time in providing risk consulting services to leading companies across telecom, technology, healthcare and automotive sectors.
In 2013, Protiviti’s India businesses was acquired by KPMG in India.
Akshay has also been a very active public speaker and was the President of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
