KPMG Isle of Man hosted Brew Monday coffee morning in aid of Isle Listen.
The most depressing day of the year was recognised as 20 January and this year KPMG decided to try to raise everyone’s mood by holding a “Brew Monday” coffee morning.
The intention of the event was for colleagues and clients to pop in for an informal tea or coffee and buy some cake to eat with their “brew” or to take back to the office. Over 30 invited guests visited the office, to enjoy some cake and have a little break, embracing the intended nature of the event.
KPMG staff got involved by baking the impressive collection of homemade cakes, with the event raising £281.13. All proceeds will go directly to Isle Listen, the firm’s chosen charity for 2020, which is an initiative to help the Island’s children to understand their mental health and learn to manage it positively.
Kristan King, Advisory Director and Head of CSR at KPMG Isle of Man commented, “Brew Monday was an informal opportunity for clients and colleagues to take a little time out of their busy day to have a chat with people that they hadn’t seen for a while or perhaps hadn’t met before. It certainly seemed to have the desired effect with people generally discussing what they had been up to outside of work and learning a little about Isle Listen whilst they were with us.”
George Blackwell at Isle Listen commented, “We are extremely grateful for any support from businesses in the Isle of Man community, however for this support to be so topical on improving the wellbeing of staff on a day known to be tough is really special. We’d like to extend thanks to all the staff that took the time to bake, come for a chat or donate!”.
