After 29 years at the Isle of Man firm, Tax Partner Greg Jones will retire from KPMG on 30 September. Greg has led the firm’s tax practice since becoming a partner in 1993 and his retirement sees the end of a long and successful career at KPMG.
Greg came to the Isle of Man to join the firm in 1990, after working for accountancy firms in London. In 1993 he was appointed as a partner. Greg has specialised in international tax matters, and has successfully overseen the Isle of Man’s tax practice’s diverse and wide-ranging client base, which is particularly strong in the fields of banking, insurance, funds and property-based private client work. A frequent contributor to both the local and professional press, he is a regular speaker at tax-related seminars and conferences. During his time he also built out the tax practice for the firm in Gibraltar.
Tax Partner David Parsons will take over Greg’s position to lead the firm’s tax practice from 1 October 2019. With nearly 30 years’ experience at KPMG, David specialises in corporate and business tax and advises on a wide range of taxation matters and is well known in the local taxation and business community. Robert Rotherham, Tax Director, who has over 20 years’ experience in the sector will take responsibility for the tax department’s compliance function, both from a corporate and personal tax perspective.
“I have enjoyed 29 happy and successful years at KPMG and will always be proud to have been part of, and associated with, such a prestigious firm”, commented Greg. “I leave it in the knowledge that the tax practice will continue to go from strength to strength and I wish my former colleagues and partners the very best for the future.”
Russell Kelly, Senior Partner of KPMG, said: “Greg has been a fantastic asset to the firm over his many years with us and has built a market leading tax practice. As part of this he has also managed his succession in the firm and in Dave and Rob has left us with a very strong team to take it forward.”
