Staff at KPMG Isle of Man have raised an astonishing £20,818.37 for Manx Cancer Help, the Manx charity that helps local people and anyone affected by cancer on the Isle of Man.

The money was raised over the past two years through a variety of events and challenges including sponsored walks, in-house raffles, dress-down days and cake sales. The proceeds from the KPMG Charity Tombola also contributed towards the total, as did funds raised from the KPMG Promenade Relay. Last year’s Promenade Relay took place in June, with runners participating in a race along the Douglas seafront. It also included a series of shorter races for children and almost £7,000 was raised at this event alone.

Gregory Jones, Head of Citizenship at KPMG, said: “Manx Cancer Help carries out a vital role in the support of those whose lives are affected by this dreadful disease and we at KPMG are pleased to have been able to make this contribution through the efforts of our staff over the past two years.”

Andrea Chambers, CEO of Manx Cancer Help, said, “I’m delighted and very grateful that KPMG chose our charity as the recipients of their incredible fundraising efforts. The money they’ve contributed helps us to continue offering essential support to local people at a distressing time of their lives.”

As one fundraising year comes to a close, KPMG has announced that its chosen charity for 2019 will be Manx Diabetic Group, in support of Monitor4Kids. The Manx Diabetic Group exists to assist all type 1 and type 2 diabetics, young and old, on the Isle of Man.

Monitor4Kids is a parent-led campaign with the aim of raising money to end finger-prick blood testing in children, with newer, painless technology. Manx Diabetic Group is raising money and awareness to fund the provision of sensors to children on the Isle of Man which will enable monitoring of blood sugar levels on a mobile phone or handset – and alerts parents when levels dip dangerously low.

Having met with those leading the campaign, KPMG is excited to embark on fundraising activities for such a worthy cause.
