Salvador Nash, newly elected President of ICSA: The Governance Institute in Ireland, highlights the need for greater diversity as he begins his inaugural term
Salvador Nash, Director in Legal Services with KPMG was announced as President of the ICSA: The Governance Institute (ICSA) in Ireland at the ICSA AGM held in Dublin on 16 November.
Having previously served as ICSA Vice-President, Salvador will serve a two-year term as head of the Institute, which represents a growing community of over 600 chartered secretaries, governance, risk and compliance professionals in Ireland, as well as more than 200 students.
Speaking about his term ahead, Salvador said; “I am honoured to serve as President of ICSA Ireland in this time of both challenge and opportunity for businesses and boards. My goal for my term is to continue the work of ICSA in championing good governance and developing the skills and effectiveness of governance professionals for the future.”
“While traditionally boards have sought to have collective and individual expertise around finance, law and human resources, we are now seeing more of a need for expertise in areas such as IT, data security, social media, cyber risk and emerging technologies. The need for greater diversity – including expertise, gender, ethnicity or age – is still very much on the agenda, and over my term I hope to support the continued growth of the number of ICSA-qualified company secretaries in Ireland to ensure that it is reflective of the diversity needed for future looking boards.”
