The 2022 FS Dublin Awards, in association with KPMG, took place on October 27th 2022 in the Mansion House, Dublin, recognising the financial services change-makers in Ireland.

The event was opened by Ian Nelson, Head of Financial Services at KPMG, who noted that “the level of entries across all the categories was outstanding and demonstrates why Ireland is recognised as one of the leading financial services centres in Europe and a location of choice for many international finance firms".

One particular highlight of the event was Michael Noonan TD, former Minister of Finance, being honoured by Seamus Hand, Managing Partner at KPMG Ireland and Ian Hyland, Business & Finance Media Group with the Pádraig Ó hUiginn Outstanding Contribution to Financial Services award, recognising his longstanding public service and commitment to the Irish FS industry.

Supporting recognition in Financial Services

Ian Nelson, a member of the judging panel and Head of Financial Services and Head of Regulatory at KPMG, said:

“The financial services industry in Ireland is a vital component of our economy, and we are pleased to support the recognition of businesses, groups, and individuals who have made significant contributions to Ireland’s status as one of the world’s top financial services hubs. These awards provide the industry with a great chance to highlight market-leading activities in banking, payments, insurance, asset management, and the ever-expanding fintech sector. We also anticipate recognising noteworthy achievements in sustainability, diversity and inclusion, areas that are crucial to the industry and important to KPMG.”

The judging committee is presided by Louise Phelan. She had a remarkable career at PayPal and is the current CEO of Phelan Energy Group. Joining her are Karl Curran, Head of Mergers and Acquisitions at Aon, Margaret Sweeny, CEO of IRES Reit, and Brian Hayes, CEO of Banking & Payments Federation Ireland.

Louise Phelan commented on the financial services industry: “The financial services industry is a significant contribution to Ireland Inc. We should be recognising the sector, and individuals who have made significant contributions to develop the financial service industry.”
