We’re proud to the launch our new KPMG Performance Series with Irish professional golfer and KPMG ambassador Leona Maguire. The series provides relatable insights for anyone seeking to prepare and perform in sport or any endeavour. The series centres on what drives Leona, how she maintains her focus, and the mental tools she has used to develop her game along her incredible journey. It will feature five videos in total and will go live over the course of the next six months.

The Performance Series leads with a short overview film, which provides insight into Leona’s mentality and delivers an overarching view of her mindset. The subsequent videos will cover topics that are applicable for everyone such as setting goals, mentality, routine, and work life balance. Throughout the series Leona provides insight on how she performs at the highest level by focusing on the moment and trusting her process.

Maguire recently secured her best-ever finish at a major as she placed 15th in the LPGA tournament. Her next tournament is the 2021 Marathon LPGA Classic fat Highland Meadows Golf Club, Sylvania, Ohio, from 8 – 11 July.

Leona Maguire on Goals

"You are just trying to get that bit better each day and goals keep you focused on that routine. You know there's a purpose to every little single thing you're doing. It's easy to be overwhelmed by the whole, little, different aspects of it but breaking it down into those mini goals definitely makes it seem that bit more achievable."

We’re dedicated to investing in young, talented people and supporting them in fulfilling their potential. In this series, Leona Maguire shares many invaluable insights that can be applied not just in sport, but in many different scenarios where people have goals and ambitions, both big and small, that they’d like to achieve.

About Leona

Leona Maguire holds the records for most weeks at No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (135), and best career scoring average for Division I Women’s Golf (70.93).

After a decorated collegiate career at Duke University which included three NCAA Player of the Year awards and ACC Championships in 2017 and 2018, the Cavan native turned pro and became a KPMG brand ambassador in May of 2018. Her first professional appearance was at the 2018 Shoprite LPGA Classic in Galloway, New Jersey, USA.

Maguire competed primarily on the Symetra Tour in 2018 and 2019, with occasional participation on the LPGA and Ladies European Tours as well. 2019 saw Leona take home her first two professional wins: the Windsor Golf Classic in California and the Symetra Classic in North Carolina. Finishing seventh on the Tour’s Volvik Race for the Card list, she successfully graduated from the  Symetra Tour and secured her LPGA Tour Card in October 2019.

In February 2020, Maguire recorded her first LPGA top five finish. Then, in 2021, she recorded highest ever finish by an Irish female on the LPGA Tour by finishing second at the Lotte Championship. Since then, she has clocked up a top-10 finish at the LPGA Mediheal Championship, a second place position at the Meijer LPGA Classic and her highest ever placing in a professional golf major with 15th place in the KPMG Women's PGA Championship in Georgia. She has also been selected as part of Team Ireland at the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer, which will be her second Olympic appearance.

“It’s a huge honour and a privilege to sign with a firm that is so globally recognised and reflective of our personal values like KPMG. A lot of amateurs making the jump to the pro game struggle with getting sponsors. To have a sponsor like KPMG believe in me is a huge confidence boost.”

Joining the ranks of fellow KPMG brand ambassadors Phil Mickelson, Stacy Lewis, Mariah Stackhouse, Maverick McNealy, Klára Spilková and Ólafía Kristinsdóttir, Leona has become part of #TeamKPMG as well as an ambassador for the KPMG supported 20x20 initiative for women in sport.

Keep up with Leona
