As a continued supporter of the Irish bloodstock sector, we were delighted to be involved in the Longines Irish Champions Weekend via our sponsorship of the KPMG Champions Juvenile Stakes.
The 2019 Group 2 KPMG Champions Juvenile Stakes was won in style by Mogul for Aidan O'Brien, Ballydoyle and Coolmore Stud under Ryan Moore at Leopardstown Racecourse. Mogul has won for the second time in 2019 and looks like a leading contender for next season's Epsom Derby.
The KPMG Champions Juvenile Stakes is run over 1 mile and is worth €150,000. The KPMG Champions Juvenile Stakes has been upgraded since 2017 to Group 2 status due to its excellent history of producing top-class racehorses. Previous winners include Epsom and Irish Derby winner Australia and Criterium International winner Johannes Vermeer. The winner of the Champion Juvenile is eligible for a place in the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile races.
The Longines Irish Champions Weekend is a spectacular two-day event, featuring ten Group races including Six Group 1 races run at two legendary Irish racecourses, Leopardstown and The Curragh. Showcasing the best horses, the best jockeys and the best trainers in the world, prize money at this event exceeds €4.6 million - making it one of the richest and most glamorous meetings on the international racing calendar.
