John Harkness

John has lead many complex forensic investigation, eDiscovery matters and Cyber incidents. John holds a number of certifications in his field, including GIAC’s Computer Forensic Analyst (GCFA) and GIAC Computer Forensic Examiner (GCFE). John has also recently provided evidence in criminal proceedings. 

Experience

• John has lead multiple Data Breach investigations, focusing on the identification of PII related information within potentially compromised datasets.
• John has extensive experience in digital investigations and has acted as lead investigator on a number Cyber Incident Rapid Response engagements to identify the route cause of the data breach.
• John was the technical lead on multiple eDiscovery projects involving large Irish Banks. These engagements involved the processing and analysis of large volumes. One of Johns key responsibilities during these engagements was to engage with the Regulators (along with the client and their legal representative) to articulate the methodology being undertaken and provide comfort to the Regulator that a robust process was being adopted.
• John is currently working on a number of expert witness matters that involve interrogating the completeness of previous eDiscovery matters. In particular, John works with clients to determine the completeness of both their disclosures, along with opposing parties.
