It is deemed as crucial for businesses in Indonesia to start taking into consideration the environmental, social and governance aspects into their business activities, in order to avoid risks of reputational damage and loss of business. Media and Non-Governmental Organization (NGO)s are increasingly scrutinizing and exercising pressure on companies behavior and code of conduct through negative publications and case studies. The importance of sustainability is acknowledged through the regulation set forth by Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority, Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK), in 2017.
These are exciting times for Indonesia businesses, regulator and financial institutions, to embark on the new success in the road to be more sustainable.
