Time is running out! Are you GDPR ready?

16 Nov. 17, 2:00PM - 7:30PM, EET

With the countdown for the biggest change to take place in the past 20 years as regards the Data Protection Regulation already under way, KPMG is organising the first symposium on the subject of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on the 16th of November 2017 in Hilton Athens.

The new European regulation will enter into force on the 25th of May 2018, and it is expected to affect businesses, government agencies and organisations, which collect or analyse information of European Union citizens. The procedures for the collection of data and management of information are changing, and stakeholders are called upon to adapt to the new regulation, whereas non-compliance will result in high fines for those not taking the required measures.

Distinguished speakers from the areas of law, risk management, IT and solution providers, as well as institutional representatives of the European Union and the Hellenic Data Protection Authority, of Article 29 Working Party and the Data Privacy of the Commission, are attending the GDPR Symposium to discuss and present all the burning issues which businesses and stakeholders are concerned about in order to suitably prepare before the regulation comes into force.

The Symposium’s agenda covers the following issues:

  • What can Businesses do and how can they prepare? An international expert will present a roadmap for businesses.
  • New Rules: Discussion on the Corporate Governance Revolution. Discussion panel with representatives of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority, the EU and Article 29 WP, coordinated by KPMG’s DPO.
  • Who is the ideal DPO and how can we clone him? DPOs from Greece and the Commission discuss the role of DPOs.
  • Risk Coverage Insurance Plans. How can businesses cover their risk? What are the plans available ?
    Best practices assisted by technology.
