Companies, cities, and NGOs are facing the craving for change towards a more sustainable future. The pressure is strong from customers, partners, and citizens. Customers and partners are demanding products and services produced in a more sustainable way. Citizens are demanding more sustainable decisions and actions from the decision makers, and the demand for sustainable products is increasing rapidly. No-one can disagree when facing the inevitable:  environmental, social, and economic issues need to be heavily considered in all decision making steps. But do we realize how urgent the change is?

The impact of climate change is becoming concretely and dramatically visible. We cannot continue the way we live now; this we know. But what seems to be uncertain is how to proceed and what tools to use to make the change happen. In 2015, Finland and all other United Nations’ member states adopted a universal plan of action, Agenda 2030 – its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (the SDGs, as we say) to make the world more prosperous, inclusive, and resilient.

We know already that the forerunner organisations in the Nordics have implemented the SDG’s into their strategy or used them as the framework for sustainability approach to boost business, competition or daily decision making. Here in Finland we have joined the forerunners showing the world all the great solutions, products, services and operational models we already have and also are developing. And use the SDG’s as framework to have the talk on the same level of ambition as the other forerunners. Because, yes we can and yes we are leaning towards the same path, but we need to take the first steps, gazelle leap or baby steps whichever is the starting point.

Here in Finland we have joined the forerunners showing the world all the great solutions, products, services and operational models we already have and also are developing.
