Leonard's experience includes, but is not limited to, various types of Receivership; contentious Involuntary (Court appointed) Liquidations; Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations; Members’ Voluntary Liquidations; and contentious Court appointed Mental Health Receiverships.
A commercially minded insolvency practitioner, Leonard has extensive experience in corporate simplification projects, asset recovery, participating in litigation, negotiating financial settlements, stakeholder management, investigating and reporting directors’ conduct and fraud, compiling statutory reports, financial reporting, as well as cross-border insolvency work (UK, Europe, Russia, Channel Islands, and some Caribbean Islands).
Leonard holds various qualifications and is an Associate Certified Public Accountant (ACPA), a Member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association (MIPA), and Member of both the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (MIPA) and INSOL International.
Before moving to the Isle of Man, Leonard spent time in the armed forces in South Africa where he was commissioned as an officer, and after relocating to the Isle of Man in 2002, he joined the financial services sector where he worked on projects such as integrating the “offshore” banking elements of Barclays Bank PLC and ABSA Group Limited in the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey.
A keen sportsman, Leonard has for the past 15 years played a key role in the sponsorship and promotion of rugby and cricket within the local community. He has, amongst other things, completed the Parish Walk and the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon.
