Machine learning has gone from hype to implementation, and companies all over the world are investing heavily in the rapidly evolving technology.
Machine learning is a subset of general Artificial Intelligence research, which is concerned with computer algorithms that continuously improve performance when exposed to more data over time. This means that computers are able to learn from experience – just like humans.
A common occurrence of machine learning in daily life can be experienced by shopping online. For example when a customer is targeted with ads and recommendations of kitchen accessories. Behind the scenes, a machine learning model is looking at the customer's previous purchases and browsing history and comparing it to other customers' behaviour that it has learned from before.
Based on this the model then predicts that this customer might be redecorating their kitchen.
