KPMG International agrees to admit new firm in Denmark
Accura Tax, the highly respected Copenhagen tax advisory firm, has entered into an agreement to become an independent member of KPMG International with the exclusive licence to provide tax advice in Denmark.
Accura Tax will join the KPMG network when the existing Danish KPMG member firm leaves KPMG International and by no later than 1 October 2014.
Accura Tax was established on 1 January 2012 by equity partners Ria Falk and Ole Schmidt with the equity partners of the leading Danish law firm Accura Advokatpartnerselskab as co-owners. Once Accura Tax joins the KPMG network, it will change its name, and Accura Advokatpartnerselskab’s equity partners will no longer be co-owners and there will be no association between KPMG and Accura. Going forward the business will be owned by the partners of the tax firm.
Accura Advokatpartnerselskab may, if it so wishes, continue to use Accura Tax’s services on a non-exclusive basis.
Kåre Stolt, Senior Partner in Accura Advokatpartnerselskab, says: "In its two years of existence, Accura Tax has achieved significant success with many Danish and international clients. We’re proud to have participated in the creation of Accura Tax, but it has become increasingly clear that tax advisory services is a cross-border business that requires an international tax network in order to realise its full potential. KPMG is a global network with tax advisers all over the world, which Accura Tax will now be a part of. We wish them all the best and believe they have found a good new home within KPMG International."
Ria Falk, Senior Partner in Accura Tax, says: "Our close cooperation with Accura Advokatpartner-selskab has been instrumental in our development over the last two years, but the opportunity to build a strong tax advisory firm in a large international network such as KPMG was one we couldn’t pass up. Our discussions with KPMG International have established that we have a shared view of the quality and services needed in the Danish market, and I look forward to working with my new partners and colleagues to serve our clients."
Ole Schmidt, Partner in Accura Tax, says: "Our attractive business model combined with the fantastic global tax advisor network of KPMG provides an excellent platform for further developing our strong position and we’ve seen great interest from leading Danish tax professionals in building up the new KPMG tax firm."
Michael Andrew, Global Chairman of KPMG International says: "The addition of Accura Tax to the KPMG network is another significant step in the building of a new KPMG presence in Denmark. Accura Tax has a well-earned reputation for providing high-quality tax services across a diverse range of clients. Ria, her partners and staff share our passion and ambition to build a modern, high-value, professional services firm, and we will work closely with them to develop their business and achieve success together."
