Companies today are under increasing pressure from investors, customers and regulators to identify and address human rights issues in their operations and value chains. Failure to do so can bring serious risks to business: not only risks to brand value, reputation and relationships, but also an increasing risk of litigation and of non-compliance with a growing body of human rights legislation.

In Europe, there is growing momentum among governments to require companies to undertake human rights due diligence. In addition, the European Parliament recently adopted a resolution calling for EU-wide mandatory due diligence legislation. Major investors and companies are also speaking out in favour of this.

This webinar explores key trends and developments in the human rights agenda globally, regulatory developments in the EU, as well as key tools for identifying human rights risks and adverse impacts. The webinar will conclude with a Q&A where the speakers will be available to discuss directly with participants.

This webinar will cover

  • Brief refresh of key business and human rights standards and frameworks
  • Stocktake of human rights in the wake of the pandemic
  • National & EU-level developments towards mandatory human rights due diligence
  • How to get started on human rights risk assessments, incl. KPMG tools applied
