I chose KPMG for several reasons. I noticed an extraordinarily entrepreneurial spirit during my first job interviews; everything was, and still is, growing fast. You actually have a chance to shape some of the business and practices. The company structure as a whole is agile. It provides you with several options to move across different service lines. This is not only important to get to know the different business lines, but is also important when you want to find out where you fit in the organisation.
This links to the fact that KPMG offers many possibilities for personal development, which is important for everyone at such an early stage in their career.
Working at KPMG means hard work and an exciting work environment. You have the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills, as well as making an impact on projects and clients' businesses. From the start, you have the responsibility to deliver on projects, but you also have the chance to work on a variety of other tasks. A few examples of the work I have done: prepared and performed sales pitches, being part of sales meetings with clients, worked on the development of KPMG's Energy and Natural Resources sector in Denmark, and participated in interviews for new hires.
Every day is different; the only part the same as yesterday is the cup of coffee strapped to your body from morning to evening. One day I am out in the field at a client’s site, and the next day I am in the office developing an in-depth analysis in an Excel spreadsheet. In the weekends, I am on the football field with the company team or sweating in the kitchen for a company-cooking event. You really get to know your colleagues in new ways when you participate in those sport and social events.
If you thrive on hard work with a lot of responsibility from the start, and an energetic work environment that offers you the opportunity to gain experience in a wide variety of service lines, KPMG is the perfect fit. At least it was for me!
