Above all we act with integrity: The integrity of our actions is our guiding principle. By setting ourselves the highest possible standards we clearly show our commitment to the KPMG values. Thus, we have developed an ethics programme that also includes a whistle-blowing hotline.
Our promise to act with professionalism among ourselves, towards our clients and in the capital markets requires the integrity of our words and actions. By setting ourselves and our clients the highest standards we are clearly committed to the KPMG values. Questioning our values is unacceptable. To preserve our culture of integrity, KPMG Germany has established a whistle-blowing hotline as part of its ethics programme.
The KPMG Whistle-blowing Hotline enables you to report illegal or unethical actions if other channels of communication have proven ineffective or inappropriate. The hotline can be used by our employees but also by our clients, subcontractors, suppliers and others who have a business relationship with KPMG.
When to use the hotline
Reports to this hotline should only be made if illegal or unethical behaviour in relation to the following is suspected:
The Whistle-blowing Hotline should not be used to make a formal complaint as to the quality of services offered or provided by KPMG Germany. In these cases please contact the responsible engagement partner.
We encourage you to voice your concern if this relates to KPMG Germany, its employees or management.
If your report relates to one of our member firms which is not an affiliate of KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft, please contact the KPMG member firm concerned directly or use the KPMG International Hotline.
How to make a report
The Whistle-blowing Hotline offers three ways to report concerns:
Both the web-based and the telephone reporting system are available day and night. Whether reporting via the hotline telephone number, the web site or by post, all reports are handled confidentially to the extent permitted by law and consistent with the requirement of KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft to investigate and address the reported conduct.
What will happen to your report
Your report will be reviewed by Margarete Gräfin von Galen at the KPMG ombudsman’s office and a member of the KPMG Quality & Risk Management if required who will determine the appropriate initial action.
If your report concerns a member of Quality & Risk Management it will remain with the ombudsman’s office.
Reports which do not relate to KPMG Germany, e.g. reports concerning another member firm, are referred to KPMG International. If your report is referred to an affiliate of KPMG AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft or KPMG International it will be subject to appropriate rules on confidentiality and protection against retaliation.
KPMG Germany is working with Canada-based ClearView Strategic Partners, an independent provider of web-based hotline services, to operate the company's whistle-blowing hotline web site. Using an external provider and involving an ombudsman’s office ensures confidentiality to anyone filing a report and anonymity to those who choose to remain anonymous.
Notwithstanding this, you should be aware that in order to conduct an appropriate investigation into matters raised by you, it may be necessary for us to advise third parties of the substance of your report. As such, your identity may become apparent and you should consider this before submitting your report.
