The technologies of tomorrow require the new mobile communication standard 5G. Building the infrastructure for 5G will demand huge investment from various stakeholders. In our Whitepaper “How to unlock deal value in the 5G era”, we highlight the issues affecting companies, the public sector and investors.
The future is 5G
Data exchange of the future will require much higher data speed and a completely secure and stable mobile network. Both of these features are elementary for technological trends such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, autonomous driving and virtual reality. Since the fifth generation of mobile communication technology (5G) meets these requirements, it will be a game changer.
But significant investment is needed to build the 5G infrastructure. For Germany alone, we estimate this volume at more than EUR 100 billion.
5G will have huge implications, and so will the required investment sums. Compared to conventional infrastructure projects, options to invest in 5G are much more complex, while opportunities and risks are more difficult to define. In our English-language Whitepaper we describe how companies, the public sector and investors can contribute and which challenges need to be overcome when investing in 5G.
Six key questions for cooperating partners
The Whitepaper asks six key questions that can be used to structure project collaboration and all relevant process steps. Answers to these questions will provide knowledge enabling an optimally tailored approach to the 5G infrastructure project.
