German coalition parties agreed in summer 2018 on the issue of the “asylum dispute” to enhance the German immigration landscape and optimize it for the immigration of skilled migrants by a “Fachkraefteeinwanderungsgesetz (FEG)”. Key issue papers had been published in the last months before the official draft was published in the last week of November. Submission to parliament can be expected shortly.
FEG is not an immigration law code, but will change the current framework for skilled migrants significantly. It aims at creating a faster, easier and clearer processes for recruitment and employment of skilled migrants who
reside within Germany and from abroad.
