Marco is focused on the taxation of the financial services industry and especially financial instruments. He advises clients from the financial services industry, such as banks, investment management companies, fund administrators, custodians, broker/dealers, asset manager, investment funds, hedge funds, VC funds, PE funds and institutional investors such as insurance companies in all relevant tax matters regarding the taxation of financial instruments, investment funds, investor tax reporting for PE funds, AEOI and FATCA reporting, the Qualified Intermendiary (QI) system and certification, the refund of German withholding taxes, the applicability of tax treaties on financial instruments, VAT exemptions on financial services and the taxation of cryptocurrencies. He has 17 years of experience advising financial services clients on a broad array of national and international tax matters. Marco is well experienced with the implementation of complex tax reforms in Germany, such as the flat withholding tax regime in 2009 or the reform of the taxation of investment funds in 2018 at banks, investment management companies and fund administrators.
