KPMG in Cyprus organised with great success the event “Cyprus Real Estate – The Insights”
The event provided the opportunity to present both KPMG Cyprus Real Estate Report (9th edition) and KPMG European Property Lending Barometer 2018 (9th edition). The keynote speakers were KPMG in Cyprus executives namely Mr. Christophoros Anayiotos, Board Member and Head of Deal Advisory, Mr. Tassos Yiasemides, Board Member and Mr. Renos Ioannides, Principal.
The Real Estate Report provides recent developments in the real estate sector with focus on the first nine months
of 2018 with statistical data on property transactions, building licences, the behaviour of price indices, along with various notable matters such as property foreclosures, hotel trends in a rather innovative analysis, from past reports.
The European Property Lending Barometer 2018 is an annual survey of banks’ appetite for real estate sector lending in Europe. The report provides insights into lending market conditions in a range of countries
in Europe and also gives a separate snapshot of the participating countries to highlight their unique market characteristics.
Mr. Christos Vasiliou, Managing Director of KPMG in Cyprus and Head of Advisory Services, welcomed the participants mentioning, among others: “The provision of the two publications, the Real Estate Market Report as well as the European Property Lending Barometer, forms part of our commitment to contribute to the industry and the community by providing key information on two important sectors of our economy, namely real estate and banking. Such initiatives enhance our vision to become the clear choice for our clients, our people and the society in general.”
Mr. Yiasemides’ presentation followed, providing an overview of the cypriot economy, its progress and prospects along with potential challenges. Mr. Anayiotos continued by presenting the latest developments in the real estate
sector in more detail, covering matters such as building permits, contract of sales, property price indices, high value residential development sales, student housing etc. Mr. Ioannides elaborated on the current lending market in Cyprus and the results of European Property Lending Barometer 2018, with a focus on the cypriot component. The presentation part concluded with a Q&A session, were participants had the opportunity to raise questions and exchange views on the presentations delivered.
The audience included prominent figures of the business world, executives from the banking institutions, financial services and real estate and development sectors, and professionals such as lawyers, valuers, investors, service providers etc. The event was followed by a cocktail, where the participants had the opportunity to network.
