KPMG in the UK

Michael collaborates across the KPMG global organization helping to create solutions aimed at addressing the worldwide shortage of healthcare workers and to help KPMG firms’ clients — large and small, public and private, systems and organizations — to understand, plan and transform their healthcare workforces. As a partner with KPMG in the UK, Michael leads the firm’s healthcare workforce practice and is the lead healthcare partner for the north of England.

His areas of expertise include workforce transformation, the future of work, performance improvement, reconfiguration in the acute sector and across health economies, and change management.

In the UK, Michael helped establish the Center for Workforce Development in Bradford and the Leeds Health and Care Academy; two separate partnerships between employers and educational providers to develop the pipeline of health staff and help those already working in the sector to operate at the top of their licenses.

Micheal has almost 30 years healthcare experience. He is a graduate of the National Health Service (NHS) Management Training Scheme and spent 24 years working with the organization to improve healthcare services and held a number of roles including: Head of Primary Care for a Primary Care Trust, NHS Local Improvement Finance Trust (LIFT) Director for Leeds, and Head of Operations at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. He transitioned his career into professional services in 2007 and has been with KPMG since 2016.

Michael is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Bradford School of Management.
