The Merchant Shipping Directorate has published Merchant Shipping Notice 151 to remind those responsible for the operation of a ship which falls within the scope of Regulation (EU) No 2015/757 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2015 on the monitoring, reporting and verification of carbon dioxide emissions from maritime transport, and amending Directive 2009/16/EC, that:

  • From 30 April 2019 and every 30 April thereafter, such responsible entities are to submit to the European Commission and to the Merchant Shipping Directorate, an emissions report concerning the CO2 emissions and other relevant information for the entire report period for each ship under their responsibility, this is to be done through THETIS-MRV.
  • By 30 June 2019, ships having arrived at, within or departed from a European Union Port during a previous reporting period shall carry on board a valid Document of compliance which verifies that the emissions report fulfils the requirements of the Regulation.
