Giles Schembri

Giles joined KPMG in Malta in 1994. He has since principally practiced within the firm’s audit function in Malta and in Milan, Italy and has been mainly involved in audits of local and foreign group structures, including audits of companies listed on the Malta Stock Exchange. Giles has also experience in auditing subsidiaries of international groups and others engaged in the hospitality, marinas, shipping sectors, oil and gas, as well as parastatal orgnisations, iGaming and digital gaming, affiliate marketing sectors, software development, manufacturing, treasury companies and fund structures. Giles also acts as EQCR on audits of Public-Interest-Entities. Giles has also been involved on a number of advisory engagements, forms part of the firm’s Department of Professional Practice and is particularly interested in accounting and auditing issues relating to group structures and has also been involved in the provision of technical advice in relation to such structures. Giles has also been a member on the Continuing Professional Education committee of the Malta Institute of Accountants, as well as a lecturer in financial accounting and reporting and addressed a number of seminars organised by the Institute and the firm on International Financial Reporting Standards and International Standards on Auditing.
