Here are some of the articles on the Oil & Gas practice of KPMG in Brazil

  • In the article on the expected rise in private equity investment in Oil & Gas production in Brazil written for Valor Setorial Energia magazine, published by Valor Econômico Newspaper, Anderson Dutra described that while a number of fields in the Campos Basin explored by Petrobras had been facing production declines, some of the major foreign oil companies had been reaping the results from investments they had been making since 2008.
  • The crisis has created opportunities to attract investors, by means of government incentives in areas where Petrobras is stopping to operate, such as the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) industry, which may still go through great changes this year.  When interviewed by Valor Setorial Energia magazine, published by Valor Econômico Newspaper, André Donha, a partner at KPMG in Brazil, said that Brazilian oil production has not been able to meet domestic demand and that LPG consists of a very important product for all population, with broad market penetration. "However, LPG is not a profitable product for Petrobras and the sale of this business has not taken the market by surprise", said Donha.
  • As a result of the growth resumption, Brazil will need to increase the oil by-product imports due to the local production limitations. However, according to the assessment made by KPMG's director, Alexandre Machado, by-product imports attract interest only at specific times, just for taking advantage of price fluctuations.  This statement was made to Valor Setorial Energia magazine, published by Valor Econômico Newspaper.
  • Program stimulates the resumption of business investments in the Energy industry.   In addition to four auctions performed this year, the federal government has determined the 2018 and 2019 schedule, and implemented a number of regulatory changes in order to attract investors. "Companies need predictability. Therefore, an auction schedule is welcome for them to plan and be able to mitigate risks through portfolio diversification", said Anderson Dutra to Valor Setorial Energia magazine, published by Valor Econômico Newspaper.
