Michiel started his career as an auditor in 2003. In 2007, he joined a large Belgian bank-insurer, where he acted as an intermediary between the front office and the credit / intensive care department in larger credit requests for both retail and corporate clients in the Belgian business unit. After a controller role in the finance department, he worked 4 years as an impairment challenger (mainly for credits, bonds and goodwill), where he was the subject matter expert from a finance perspective in the impairment (recognition & provisioning) of loans and bonds.

He joined the KPMG Financial Risk Management practice in 2016. In this role, he is a subject matter expert in the area of financial instruments impairment & accounting (IAS 37/39 & IFRS 9/7), serving our clients in both the financial as the non-financial sector.
