At KPMG, we imagine a future where all Australians are united by our shared past, present, future and humanity. In this future, the cultures, histories, rights and voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People are heard, understood and respected.

Guided by our purpose to ‘Inspire Confidence, Empower Change’, we are committed to placing truth-telling, self-determination and cultural safety at the centre of our approach. We aspire to push ourselves further and be more courageous in our actions – so we can help create a meaningful impact in support of reconciliation. Our vision is that every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person has equal opportunity to chart a future for themselves, their families, and communities.

KPMG’s third Elevate RAP is a reflection of our more than 15 year long reconciliation journey – a journey of which we are immensely proud. We have forged deep relationships with Indigenous partners, organisations and communities and learned much about the histories, rich cultures and traditions of the First Australians.

Our approach

Our 2021-2025 RAP is focused around three areas aligned with the RAP framework and the refreshed Closing the Gap targets.
These will guide the long term strategic direction of the firm’s reconciliation efforts:

    For our people:

Indigenous Cultural Safety Plan

Develop a cultural safety plan and measurement framework to improve the cultural awareness and competency of our people and ensure KPMG’s Indigenous staff are respected and valued. This is informed by research, the opinions and experiences of KPMG’s Indigenous Network and selected external partners.

    For Indigenous businesses:

Indigenous business accelerator

Expand the Indigenous Business Accelerator program nationally, contributing to the growth of the Indigenous business sector and to increased economic empowerment for Indigenous peoples.

    For the community:

Collaborative approach to Indigenous suicide prevention

Use KPMG’s networks, resources and relationships to identify the right partners to work collaboratively with to develop an approach to Indigenous suicide prevention.

As an ‘Elevate’ RAP, each of these focus areas features a unique leadership project that brings our commitment to reconciliation to new heights.
