Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s consultation on ‘Review of the Corporate Governance Code and Related Listing Rules’
On 3 November 2017, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange published a consultation paper proposing changes to the Corporate Governance Code and Corporate Governance Report, as well as related amendments to its Listing Rules.
The proposal aims to address certain corporate governance concerns and raise the overall standard of corporate governance among issuers and directors.
This Hong Kong Capital Markets Update discusses the five areas that have been identified by the securities regulators for review: independent non-executive directors, nomination policies, meeting attendance for directors, dividend policy and the electronic dissemination of corporate communications.
The consultation period will end on 8 December 2017.
