This survey summarises the opinions of global automotive executives and consumers on key automotive trends and opportunities.
KPMG’s 18th annual automotive survey summarises the opinions of global automotive executives – including 88 from China – and consumers on key automotive trends and opportunities. It finds that China’s auto executives view connectivity and digitalisation and creating value out of data as the key trends to watch out for.
The survey also finds that while half the global respondents view Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) as the number one trend until 2025, 64 percent of China respondents highlight connectivity and digitalisation as strong disruptors for the automotive sector. BEVs and creating value out of data also rank among the top three key trends in China.
Executives are also confident about vehicle sales in China. The report indicates that the majority of executives (76 percent) expect the global share of vehicles sold in China to reach 40 percent by 2030 (up from the current 29 percent).
In addition, global automotive executives view China as the top market to launch a new car or services, followed by the USA and Germany. China also ranks among the top three destinations to pilot a launch of a new data-driven business model.
Furthermore, more than half of the surveyed global executives view China as a high growth market for traditional mass and volume manufactures, as well as for premium manufacturers.
