As the pace of Chinese companies going outbound accelerates, a number of Chinese multinationals with global vision are emerging. Their long-term success depends on how they build their new core competencies in the new operating environments, and more importantly, how they are accepted by local communities as ‘local enterprises originating from China’.
The report highlights the key challenges that Chinese companies face in their overseas green operations: such as mitigating negative impacts on the environment; conducting reliable assessment of environmental and social impacts; proper management; information disclosure and public communication; establishment of internal standards and management systems; and obtaining green loans.
