The Future of Sporting Events in Hong Kong: Strategies for Funding & Community Engagement

KPMG Office, 8th Floor, Prince’s Building, 10 Chater Road, Central, Hong Kong

18 September 2018, 16:30 - 19:30, HKST Hong Kong, China

Major sports events can play multiple roles in the development of sports in a city or country. They can provide the opportunity for local elite athletes to perform at the highest level in front of a home crowd, inspire increased participation in a sport, encourage participants to strive to achieve new levels of skill and generate economic benefits.

KPMG and the Business of Sport Network are pleased to host a seminar in which we look at various aspects of major sports events in Hong Kong.

Our guest speaker, Mr Yeung Tak-keung, Commissioner for Sports, will outline key aspects of the new 'Major Sports Events Matching Grant Scheme" that will support the hosting of Hong Kong's major sports events.

KPMG will present their assessment of:

  • the economic impact of major sports events that took place in Hong Kong in 2017; and
  • Hong Kong’s positioning as a destination for major sports events.

The seminar will be completed by a panel discussion on the future of major sports events in Hong Kong.
