John has over 20 years of experience in KPMG’s tax practices in Hong Kong and New Zealand. John’s work involves providing the full range of tax assistance and advice to multinational companies across the Asia Pacific region and beyond. John has considerable experience in cross-border investment structures and financing arrangements, including coordinating and advising on numerous regional and global engagements. His role involves advising clients on issues relevant to investment structuring through to managing compliance and revenue authority audits and investigations.
John is experienced in advising clients from a wide variety of industries, including banks and leasing companies as well as logistics operators. This includes his role the tax engagement partner for Hong Kong’s leading airline group and lead the co-ordination and service delivery in Hong Kong. He has been responsible for coordinating and advising on various global tax matters for this airline for the past 8 years.
He also has extensive experience in advising airlines and aircraft lessors on various tax matters including aircraft financing as well as income tax and personnel tax issues in Hong Kong and across Asia. This has included various PRC based leasing. Many of these transactions involve obtaining binding rulings from the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department.
