Society for Community Organization (SoCO) is a non-profit and non-governmental community organisation that provides social support for cage and cubicle dwellers, the single elderly, new immigrant women, children living in poverty, street-sleepers, people with mental illnesses, low-paid workers, refugees and ethnic minorities.
Since 2003, we have partnered with SoCO to sponsor and assist underprivileged children and youths in Hong Kong through different activities – from large-scale English learning programmes and student internships, to other activities such as Christmas parties and elderly home visits. We provide financial support as well as volunteers to manage the activities.
From 2012 to 2015, we partnered with SoCO to roll out a three-year educational programme called ‘We Will Fly’, aimed at improving the English level and widening the horizons of grassroots students in Hong Kong through well-designed English classes and social activities.
In 2017, the KPMG Foundation launched the We Will Fly II programme in partnership with SoCO, the ABC Education Foundation and the ABC Pathways School. This programme aims to strengthen the English foundation of students from low-income families in Hong Kong at an early age. It also offers a series of parenting skills workshops to better equip the parents.
Going forward, we will continue to work closely with SoCO to organise targeted programmes that support grassroots students in Hong Kong.
