On 1 July 2021, Tobias Valk will join the Executive Committee and take over as Head of Advisory at KPMG Switzerland; he will be replacing CEO Stefan Pfister, who has held this post on an interim basis since 2019. Tobias Valk will step down from the Board of Directors of KPMG Switzerland as a result; his successor will be appointed at the Partners’ Conference scheduled for early December 2021.

Tobias Valk joined KPMG Switzerland’s Board of Directors in December 2018 and served in this function alongside his roles as Global Lead Partner for Novartis and Deal Advisory Partner. Hélène Béguin, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of KPMG Switzerland, is grateful to Tobias Valk for his contributions during that time: “Both his in-depth understanding of our business and his wealth of experience enabled Tobias Valk to not only make a major contribution to the Board of Directors, but the Executive Committee also appreciated him as a critical sparring partner. This interaction laid the perfect foundation for strengthening the Executive Committee even further.”

Working as a certified accountant at KPMG, Tobias Valk has gained sound expertise and advisory experience over the course of his 25-year career. As a former Head of Deal Advisory (2014 to 2018), he has a detailed understanding of our clients’ needs on matters related to M&A. The past three years have also given Tobias Valk an opportunity to hone his advisory skills in the area of traditional management consulting services as Global Lead Partner for Novartis. “Tobias Valk will leverage his experience and multidisciplinary skills as he successfully guides Advisory on its growth trajectory. I gladly place the leadership of Advisory in his hands and join the other members of the Executive Committee in looking forward to working together with him in the future and to exchanging views within the Executive Committee of KPMG Switzerland,” says Stefan Pfister, CEO of KPMG Switzerland, when commenting on the new appointment.

He will continue to head up the Transaction Services unit in Deal Advisory on an interim basis where he can count on the full support of the management team.
