Partner, Head of Corporate and M&A
Nicolas Wehrli is a Partner and heads our Corporate and M&A legal practice group. He is a dual qualified lawyer with extensive experience in complex national and international M&A as well as debt and equity capital markets transactions, corporate restructurings, and general corporate and commercial matters. At KPMG Nicolas works with his colleagues on a broad range of projects as part of multi-disciplinary teams alongside Deal Advisory, Tax and other specialists.
Prior to joining KPMG, Nicolas was a senior counsel in a global insurance group, advising on complex mergers and acquisitions transactions across the globe, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, restructurings, portfolio transfers, reinsurance and distribution arrangements. He also represented the group in finance matters, complex investments in different asset classes, and in strategy, innovation and business development activities.
Prior to that, Nicolas was an US senior associate in the London office of a leading US law firm, specializing in M&A and capital markets transactions. He regularly advised leading private equity firms on leveraged buyouts and other private equity transactions across many European jurisdictions, including acquisitions, disposition, consortium arrangements, minority investment, and management equity investment programs for their portfolio companies. He also represented issuers and investment banks in international capital market transaction, including high yield and investment grade debt offerings and initial public equity offerings and other capital-raising transactions.
He also worked as a Swiss lawyer in the transactions team of a leading Swiss law firm and in the Corporate and M&A legal practice group of another professional services firm.
Nicolas is admitted to practice in New York and Switzerland, and holds a Juris Doctor in Law (lic.iur.) from the Universities of Zurich and Geneva and an LL.M. in Corporate Law from the Law School of the University of Pennsylvania as well as a Certificate in Business and Law from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
