Juemin shares with us what her corporate day looks like in business development.

What are your responsibilities at KPMG?
Officially, I am part of KPMG’s Deal Advisory in Zurich and am responsible for KPMG’s China Desk. However, KPMG offers so much expertise that in the meantime, I can also offer my Chinese clients numerous solutions outside Deal Advisory. Currently, I am very much involved in projects having to do with M&A and blockchain – here the range of topics includes financial, regulatory and tax.

On the one hand, this allows me to find the best possible solution for Chinese investors who are already involved in Swiss investments and who would like to expand their holdings here. On the other hand, I can also help Swiss clients who are seeking a closer cooperation with Chinese companies. This business development role at KPMG is very appealing but also challenging – but the great thing is that in my role I get to contribute to KPMG’s success.


What are your further career steps and how is KPMG supporting you in reaching these?
My objective is to become Partner at KPMG. Both KPMG as a company and my personal Performance Manager support my endeavor. Since I have been with KPMG, I was able to develop professionally as well as personally and I am coached in each career step by my Performance Manager. Normally, I am on-site at a client’s every day and in contact with strategic partners. This is an excellent way of growing and maintaining my network. Furthermore, KPMG’s Partners open doors for me now and again so that I can expand my network even further. In general, KPMG’s client network is excellent and very valuable so that it can support me in my role and further my career as well.


How would you describe KPMG’s corporate culture?
I find KPMG’s corporate culture pleasant and informal. As a team, we have the same objectives and support each other in our daily work.

You are encouraged but also pushed to do your best. Of course, this is normal in a high-performance culture and actually corresponds to my personality. What I really enjoy about working at KPMG is that I am given much entrepreneurial freedom. I can bring in my ideas and can also build up new things. This is certainly also a reason why I could get so far in such a short time.


How do you perceive KPMG as a jump-off point for your future career?
KPMG is a great brand and has a good reputation both with clients as well as employees. For me, KPMG offers an ideal platform to develop professionally and personally and to expand my network. In every conversation I hold with Partners and clients, I learn something new. It allows me to work in an international environment and to attend numerous interesting workshops locally and abroad. At KPMG, I work in a well-established firm with a good reputation and can get involved independently as an entrepreneur. That’s exactly what I had been looking for.
