Ebba shares some of her personal “Dare to” moments.
How did you get involved with KPMG and what made you decide to join us?
After finishing my studies in Sweden where I am originally from, I started my career in supply chain management for a Swiss consumer goods company. Since my studies, I have been interested in consulting because of the various industries you can work within and also because I was a working student in supply chain planning and auditing. My wish to work in supply chain and technology has grown ever since which is one of the reasons I applied at KPMG. I wanted to help companies with supply chain and/or technology problems and receive insights into different industries. In addition, I was excited about the great development opportunities KPMG offers.
What are, in your view, the greatest benefits of working for KPMG?
Certainly, the collaboration with highly motivated, skillful and one-of-a-kind people which make an amazing culture. It is both enriching and inspiring to work with people from across the globe, at KPMG Switzerland and within the KPMG network. They all have different backgrounds and skill sets and are willing to share their experience and knowledge.
Moreover, there is a great team spirit, inside and outside of work with events, dinners and ski trips. If the current pandemic allows, we will run a half marathon together this year.
How does KPMG support you to learn and grow?
At KPMG you have a mix of on-the-job learning, and constant challenges which makes you grow both personally and professionally. You are also encouraged and supported to take additional education to further develop your expertise and skill set. During my first year, I took internal and external trainings in areas of project management, presentation skills and technology.
What is your personal career highlight at KPMG?
My personal career highlight was when I had the opportunity to take over responsibility for a project management office for an international digital transformation program. It was a great opportunity to develop, skills in areas such as leadership, collaboration with foreign consultants, project planning and problem-solving.
What is your personal “dare to” moment?
One of my “dare to” moments was when I started at KPMG back in 2019 and had to speak German after only a year of studying the language. It was quite challenging at first but being out of your comfort zone makes you develop really fast. Now, looking back, I see what a steep learning curve I had, both in in a new language and in my role. It’s like when you go skiing: you sometimes have to be brave or try something new to get better.
What would you tell people who are not sure if they should join KPMG?
If you are interested in working in a diverse environment, both in a global and local context with a steep learning curve and endless opportunities, “dare to” apply!
