KPMG in Québec announced today the launch of the "Focus Québec 2025" initiative, that will examine the existing and emerging factors driving business success and prosperity across the province.

"Companies, government organizations, educational institutions and employees must constantly adjust to changing business conditions," says Benoit Lacoste Bienvenue, Managing Partner, Québec Region, at KPMG Canada. "We want to take a deeper look into what is driving the economy, identify best practices and share these with businesses across the province to help them continue to grow and thrive in an increasingly changing marketplace."

A series of investigations on major issues

The Focus Québec 2025 project will focus on two major issues facing businesses in the coming years: the importance of rethinking their supply chains and the criteria for sustainable development. "Most companies are wrestling with similar issues from difficulties consistently sourcing supplies to skilled labour shortages to addressing evolving environmental, social and corporate governance criteria," adds Mr. Bienvenue. "Our goal is to examine how these issues impact different sectors in all areas of the province to develop common approaches and solutions to these challenges."

Data will be collected in all regions of Québec, particularly in industries representing the main economic sectors of Québec, from multiple public and private sources.

Focus Québec 2025 will engage businesses and educational institutions in each region, who will play key roles in the initiative. Manufacturing organizations are also invited to participate in this initiative. AéroMontréal, the Conseil de transformation alimentaire du Québec (CTAQ) and Vêtement Québec have already answered the call given the importance of this project for the manufacturing sector.

The first results of "Focus Québec 2025" are expected to be published by December 2021.

Companies from all economic sectors in Québec are invited to participate in the first phase of this comprehensive investigation into the practices of small, medium and large enterprises in Québec.

TACT, a collaborator of choice

The deployment of "Focus Québec 2025" will be supported by a strategic collaboration with TACT, a Quebec-owned public relations agency. For Manon Genest, co-founding partner of TACT and director of the Montreal office, this collaboration is a natural fit: "Labour shortages, social acceptability, the environment or governance: the issues that KPMG is interested in are the same ones that our clients have to deal with, and most of the time, part of the solution involves strategic communication. Understanding these issues will in turn allow us to better serve our clients."
