KPMG today announced the acquisition of Stein Jacobs Krolik ("SJK"), a Montréal-based accounting firm that for more than 50 years has specialized in delivering assurance, tax and strategic support services to a clientele consisting of small and medium-sized businesses.

"This acquisition reflects our belief in the strength of small- and medium-sized businesses in the province and reaffirms our commitment to play an active role in helping to bolster the recovery of the Québec and Canadian economies," said Benoit Lacoste Bienvenue, KPMG's Managing Partner for the Québec region. "Based in the borough of Saint-Laurent, SJK's highly qualified professionals are joining our KPMG Enterprise team in the Town of Mount Royal office and represents a step forward in our province-wide growth strategy."

"We are delighted to join a large organization that sees the importance of supporting entrepreneurs, no matter what their stage of development," said Barry Rashkovan, Managing Partner for SJK. "We have maintained close ties with our business partners for many years and are committed to providing personalized, value-added service. We are proud to join forces with KPMG Enterprise to continue to drive our clients' development with comprehensive solutions."

The acquisition is the latest in a series of investments KPMG in Québec has made in the province. Recognizing the importance of the KPMG Enterprise offer and the role played by the regions as an economic driver, the firm recently announced an unprecedented province-wide recruiting campaign and inaugurated its "KPMG Enterprise Virtual Office" initiative, which will allow talent in the regions of Québec to play a key role in supporting Québec businesses.
