Former CIO of Canada will focus on helping the public sector make the digital shift
KPMG in Canada is pleased to announce that Alex Benay has joined the firm as Partner, Digital and Government Solutions.
Mr. Benay will be based out of KPMG’s Ottawa office and work with the firms’ public sector clients to help them effectively implement key digital technologies and solutions such as Artificial Intelligence (including ethical AI), Blockchain, Cloud computing, Data Security and Privacy, Digital Identification, Digital Integrity and Assurance.

Mr. Benay is the former CIO for the Government of Canada where he was named one of the world’s 100 most influential people in digital government. He was most recently Chief Client Officer for MindBridge, and will continue to advise the MindBridge team on a number of strategic initiatives.

Mr. Benay has published two books. His first, Canadian Failures, is a series of essays from prominent Canadians who speak about the role of failure in their success. The second, Government Digital, looks at the need for governments to adopt digital technology. He is the co-founder of the CIO Strategy Council, a forum for transforming, shaping, and influencing the Canadian information and technology ecosystem. He also sits on the Board of the World Wide Web Foundation, an organization that seeks to ensure everyone has access to the internet.
