KPMG in Canada is pleased to announce that Justin Kutyan has been appointed Senior Partner of KPMG Law LLP. In this national role, Justin will lead the management of KPMG Law, the law firm affiliated with KPMG in Canada, during an exciting period of rapid growth and expansion.

Mr. Kutyan joined KPMG Law five years ago as a Tax Litigation and Dispute Resolutions Partner. Justin specializes in litigating tax cases and has extensive experience in trial advocacy. He has practiced law for 13 years, first with the federal Department of Justice, then with a top-tier national law firm prior to joining KPMG Law. Over the course of his career, he has successfully resolved complex disputes involving a wide range of income tax, indirect tax and customs issues.

Mark Meredith, a founding partner of KPMG Law and Acting Senior Partner of the law firm’s Management Committee, is retiring on September 30th. Mr. Meredith has been instrumental in the evolution of KPMG Law, helping to build what has become a successful national, multifunctional law practice.

In addition, Anna Balinsky, Partner, Business Law, has been appointed to serve on KPMG Law’s Management Committee, effective October 1. Ms. Balinsky focuses her practice on business law, with an emphasis on advising companies with respect to day-to-day operations, mergers and acquisitions and structuring. This appointment underscores KPMG Law’s strong focus on building out its business law practice in Canada.

KPMG Law currently has six offices across the country and employs more than 80 lawyers, including partners and associates. This growing team of legal professionals provide clients with strategic advice and legal services for all business, tax, immigration, and estate and trust needs.
