For our KPMG 2020 HR Pulse, we surveyed nearly 1,300 Human Resource leaders globally to help us better understand how HR functions are transforming and what they are doing to navigate the complexities of our current environment.
We found that HR leaders are generally proud of how their organizations responded to the pandemic as they dealt with a sharp rise in workload in a context of broader uncertainty. But our survey also revealed longer-term imperatives, such as the need for a purpose and values-based culture; the urgency to digitize; and new demands on the HR function. It exposed key priorities for enabling a great employee experience whether remote or onsite, and for fostering a “digital mindset” of adaptability. The importance of these priorities cannot be understated. In a world of uncertainty that may last beyond the next 18 months, speed and agility matter.
In fact, more than two thirds (69%) of HR executives surveyed believe the HR function needs to completely reinvent and transform itself to respond effectively to future disruption. HR organizations need to think big and play the long game.
Challenge your organization to work in new ways, invest where you can, and take this opportunity to transform not just the function, but the enterprise itself.
