Companies that conduct business internationally may want to follow the ongoing global debate on the digital economy and taxation. KPMG International recently submitted comments to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on its latest proposals to address tax challenges arising from the digitalization of the economy. This submission is in response to a recent OECD public consultation document that requested feedback on certain issues in its proposed two-pillar approach. This approach is intended to ensure that certain multinational enterprises pay tax in countries where they have consumer-facing activities but do not have a physical presence, and also to ensure all internationally operating businesses pay a minimum level of tax.
