The United States has announced a filing extension to July 15, 2020 for federal income tax returns originally due on April 15, 2020. Earlier this week, the IRS had extended the deadline for eligible federal income tax payments due April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020. As a result, U.S. tax payment and tax filing deadlines are now the same. The specific details regarding this change to the filing deadline will be issued shortly via an IRS Notice.

The U.S. Treasury Secretary made this announcement earlier today over Twitter.
