The key is in truly building new leadership capacity and governance structures to achieve system-level impact.
Opioid use and misuse in Canada is at epidemic proportions. Nearly 4,000 Canadians died of opioid overdoses in 2017, according to Health Canada. In our previous Issue Briefs, we described there is no 'silver bullet' to solving this crisis. While there are plenty of ideas and solutions out there, in order to see impact at scale, a comprehensive strategy still needs to be rolled out broadly across Canada. This requires bold change.
In this third Issue Brief, we offer a toolkit for action, which includes concrete steps towards eradicating the opioid epidemic.
