KPMG is honoured to announce that Siobhan Monaghan has been appointed as a Judge of the Tax Court of Canada.
Up until her appointment, Justice Monaghan was a co-leader of KPMG Law LLP.
Newly appointed Justice Monaghan was called to the Alberta Bar in 1985 and practiced tax law for over 25 years before joining KPMG in 2014 as a partner. Madame Justice Monaghan has been extensively involved in the tax community. She has served as a member of the Canadian Bar Association-Chartered Professional Accountants Canada Joint Committee on Taxation for nearly ten years (including two years as co-chair) and has been a member of the Income Tax Education Committee of CPA Canada. She was an adjunct faculty member of Osgoode Hall Law School's Professional LL.M. program, has lectured at the CBA's Tax Law for Lawyers program and was recently a governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation.
