ENMAX Corporation, through its subsidiaries, makes, moves and sells electricity to residential, small business and large commercial customers across Alberta. Its 1,800 employees are focused on delivering ENMAX's mission: to power the potential of people, businesses and communities by safely and responsibly providing electricity and energy services in ways that matter to them today and tomorrow.

Through its commitment to building a brighter energy future, ENMAX is always adapting to new technologies, systems and processes that help the organization do its jobs more efficiently and accurately, with a strong attention to customer needs.

In the summer of 2015, ENMAX engaged KPMG to identify and integrate new technologies throughout the organization to streamline and transform the Finance function.

KPMG began its initial engagement by consulting with ENMAX's Finance department to refresh their target operating model. Next, KPMG took a holistic approach to address organizational structure, roles and accountabilities, process redesign and technology implementation to help ENMAX's Finance department become a more valuable partner with the business. This involved replacing the corporation's expiring enterprise resource planning (ERP) system with the Workday system for financial management – a process that required cross-functional training, solution architecture and careful planning to ensure this new solution met ENMAX's business requirements.

As the project progressed, it became clear the varying components of this engagement could not happen in isolation and were heavily dependent on parallel projects in work management and procurement.

With these interdependencies in mind, ENMAX merged three parallel initiatives to form the Project One program. KPMG's mandate expanded to overall program management, solution design and change management to transition ENMAX users to the new technology landscape. The result is a leading solution including IBM's Maximo Asset Management system, PowerPlan and Workday Financial Management.

We are not over the finish line yet – ours is a collaboration in progress, and one in which we strive to bring greater efficiencies, stronger analysis capabilities and new mobile applications that will energize the ENMAX team and bolster its success.

We know how to get things done.
