Nunzio is a Tax Partner in KPMG’s Financial Services Practice in Toronto and is the leader of KPMG’s Insurance Tax Practice. He has more than 32 years of professional experience and has been a member of the KPMG Insurance Industry Practice concentrating on insurance tax matters since 1991.

Nunzio has extensive experience with a wide range of complex tax matters including domestic and cross border  issues related to both resident and non-resident Life and P&C insurance companies, tax planning for the purchase and sale of insurance companies and insurance businesses, captive insurance companies, corporate reorganizations and negotiations with tax authorities.

Nunzio has been actively involved with industry associations and client specific submissions to taxation authorities in connection with various issues including the tax treatment of deferred acquisition costs and recent legislative changes related to Fair Value Accounting and the analysis of the impact of the conversion to IFRS. Nunzio has focused on the tax matters related to IFRS 17 for the last 3 years and has been an active member of the IBC IFRS-17 tax working group and the related meetings with the Department of Finance, part of the IBC Acquisition Costs subgroup as well as actively participating in the CLHIA tax committee analysis of the related issues.
