Lesley A. Tela

Lesley has over 29 years of experience in the complex issues surrounding Canada’s indirect taxes.  During Lesley’s 7 years with the CRA she was heavily involved in GST tax rulings, interpretations and was often sought out to advise GST auditors and client representatives on technical issues with respect to GST.

Currently, Lesley is responsible for the management of KPMG’s Vaughan office Indirect Tax practice. In this capacity Lesley leads a team of indirect tax advisory personnel that are responsible for providing advice regarding the application of GST/HST and PST to clients in a wide variety of industries with emphasis in the following areas:   Retail, Non-residents and Manufacturing, Information Technology Industry including Media and the Public Sector. In addition to her lead responsibilities Lesley is also the Canadian National lead for Indirect Tax Compliance services.   Lesley has also developed a strong reputation for counseling her clients on proactive planning issues with an aim to mitigating risk, reducing exposures and managing compliance issues related to indirect tax within their operating jurisdictions.
